Weatherproof Canvas Material & Structure
The RoofBunk Roamer has our high quality 320gsm poly-cotton blend ripstop canvas material on its walls, making it completely weatherproof.
It can handle winds of up to 40mph (Gale Force 8) when opened, has waterproof silicone tape on the seams to stop leaks, and the material has a waterproof rating of 3000mm. This makes it 3 times as waterproof as a regular ground tent and able to handle even the worst rain storms with no problem!
The combination of our thick canvas material and the structure of our roof tent makes it quieter and warmer in cold and stormy conditions and the material has been treated with agents to make it UV and mould resistant, so it should be protected from being faded by the sun.
We've also made sure the material used on our tent is breathable to prevent condensation and dampness as much as possible and because the material is both dark and thick, it should stay dark for you in the morning, so you won't be woken up by the sun!
Strong & Streamlined Shell
The shell is made of our high quality ABS material, making it very unlikely to shatter on impact compared to fibreglass alternatives.
It’s designed to be strong, but also light enough to make it easier to lift and install.
It will keep you warm at night due to the shell leaking less heat than canvas material alternatives, the thin layer of insulation on the roof should help keep it quieter in the rain, and the low aerodynamic design of the shell means there’s both less noise while driving and you'll save money on fuel!
Opens & Closes In Seconds
Our roof top tent is able to be set up and packed away in a matter of seconds with its stainless steel gas strut system. You can also keep your bedding inside when it's down too- perfect if you're on the move frequently when travelling!
The set up process in short involves unfastening the closing buckles at both ends, pushing the roof tent up at each end to allow the gas struts open it, then setting the ladder up. We have a full installation and opening/closing (starts at 2:03) video tutorial here if you'd like to see exactly how it works though:
How To Install, Open & Close Your RoofBunk Roamer Hard Shell Roof Tent.
Fits Most Vehicles
You should be able to fit a RoofBunk Roamer hard shell on almost any vehicle's roof, as long as you're able to keep the roof bars between 70cm and 120cm apart, as this will sufficiently spread the load weight evenly.
Make sure to get roof bars that are rated to hold at least 60kg of weight and are ideally through bars in design too, as these allow more overhang on the sides and keep the Roamer sitting flush on the roof bars, as the fitting rails are built into this model.
You'll also need to check your vehicle’s maximum roof load capacity is over 60kg, which can be found in your vehicle’s user manual or after searching for the information online.
If you want to keep your ladder inside the Roamer roof top tent too, then you'll need these weight limits to be 67kg though.
If all this sounds daunting, then please email over your vehicle's number plate and we'll be happy to do the research for you!
Extra Large Design
The RoofBunk Roamer has an extra large and tall roof tent design, allowing space for taller people to sit up when needed and have a more comfortable sleep.
It's about as wide as a standard sized double bed at 140cm (4ft 7), long enough to sleep someone who is about 6ft 11 inches (210cm) and has a high enough ceiling for the biggest people you know to sit up in at 100cm high (3ft 4).
All this allows you to sleep 2 adults and a small child.
On top of this, there's about 20cm worth of storage height in the Roamer when it's down (plus the length and width of it), so it doubles up as a roof box if you need some extra space to store a few things on your trips!
You can also give yourself some extra living space and protection from the weather with the Roamer Side Canopy Awning if you want too!
Light & Strong
Our roof tent has been designed to be both strong, with a 300kg (47 stone) internal weight capacity and light at 58kg (128lb) when you exclude the ladder, making it easier to lift on and off your vehicle.
The lighter design also means it costs you slightly less in fuel from having less weight on top of your vehicle and makes it easier to find suitable roof bars to hold the weight if you don’t already have them.
Save Money On Holidays
Save money camping in a RoofBunk roof top tent instead of paying for hotels!
If you consider that the average campsite pitch price is £10-£15 a night, compared to the average hotel room costing you anywhere from £100-£300 a night, you should be to make the RoofBunk roof tent pay for itself in no time!
You can also save even more money by camping at the various free stopover locations on apps like Park4Night & StayFree ect.
Plus, all the RoofBunk models retain their value quite well, so if you do eventually decide to move on, you should be able to sell them for 70%-80% of what you originally bought them for, meaning you could get your money's worth after just one trip away!
Added Design Features
Every door and window on the RoofBunk Roamer has zippable mosquito nets on them to keep any bugs out, while still ensuring good airflow.
You can get in either side of the roof tent or from the back, as we’ve put doors and ladder brackets on each of these locations, so you can decide which will suit your setup best!
The Roamer also has black elastic strings inside it, which help pull the tent material in, so you should have less to tuck in when closing it.
Plus, we’ve added rain flaps on the bottom of the tent to prevent leaks from happening, as the water will flow off the tent, rather than accumulate and seep through at the bottom, like with other hard shell designs.
Included Accessories
Your RoofBunk Roamer comes with a high quality aluminium telescopic ladder that can extend up to 230cm (7ft 7 inches) and a comfortable 7cm (3 inch) mattress. The mattress can be removed for easy washing or you can put your own custom sized mattress in it instead for even more comfort if you wish!
You also get everything you’ll need to install it, lots of extra storage accessories for shoes, phones ect, a cargo storage net on the roof and 6 door porch poles are included too if you'd prefer this to rolling up the RoofBunk's doors!
Warranty
With your RoofBunk, you'll get a 2 year warranty with it free of charge!
There's also an option to pay to increase this warranty by up to 5 extra years, so you'll have 7 years in total, which you can find here:
